ISPOR Jordan Chapter has conducted 3 training workshops for the following organizations: Jordan National Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology and Genetics (NCDEG) in October 2021, Jordan University Hospital in December 2021, and Jordan Armed Forces-Royal Medical Services (RMS) in March 2022

ISPOR Jordan Chapter organized a training workshop titled "Health Technology Assessment: Basic Concepts and Applications", in cooperation with the Jordan National Center for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Genetics (NCDEG) on 9 -11 October 2021. Certificates cosigned by ISPOR Jordan Chapter President Prof. Ibrahim Alabbadi and the NCDEG Vice President Prof Mohammed El-Khateeb were awarded to participants for attendance. In this workshop, Prof Alabbadi introduced basic and up to date concepts related to HTA and illustrated their importance when choosing among different healthcare interventions. He further explained that decision makers should understand and choose from a variety of economic evaluation techniques to determine which healthcare intervention is the most efficient. Dr. Eman Hammad and Dr Remal Mousa from Jordan University and Dr Sohaib Almofleh from Jordan University of Science and Technology gave lectures on cost, modeling, and evidence-based medicine. This training  brought together members from different administrative positions in local health care facilities in the capital Amman representing both public sector as well as private sector e.g. Jordan University Hospitals, the clinical pharmacist in charge and the head of tenders department, head and pharmacists of pharmacy department in NCDEG, key access managers in pharmaceutical companies, biomedical engineering department at Ministry of Health and members from Joint procurement department.

Co-organized with the Royal Medical Services (RMS), ISPOR Jordan Chapter conducted a training workshop titled “Health Technology Assessment: Basic Concepts and Applications" on 27 -28 March 2022. The training introduced principles of health economics and the application of key concepts to inform health policy decisions. Some senior healthcare professionals and members from different administrative positions in local healthcare facilities in the RMS, including health policymakers, nurses, pharmacists, and academics from Princess Muna College of Nursing. The participants were awarded certificates for attendance.

Prof Alabbadi introduced basic and up to date concepts related to HTA and illustrated their importance when choosing among different healthcare Interventions. He further explained that decision makers should understand and choose from a variety of economic evaluation techniques to determine which healthcare intervention is the most efficient. Dr Emad Alsharu, Head of the HTA Department of RMS, talked about the HTA roadmap in Jordan. Major Emad Almomani, a health economist at the HTA Department of RMS, introduced concepts related to universal health coverage, health system financing, decision analytical modelling, health-related quality of life, and manage entry agreement, and he illustrated its relevance to informing decision making and improve patient access.

This participatory approach aligns with the capacity building mission of the HTA Department of RMS and HTA Jordanian National Committee developed by the Minister in the Jordanian Higher Health Council following the roadmap published lately to pave the road for the implementation of HTA in Jordan.

It is noted that participants were granted 3.2 CPD points (for 8 hours actual attendance) from the Jordanian Pharmaceutical Association (JPA) for their participation in this workshop.
