    Description

On 4 October 2022, ISPOR held the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Roundtable for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) Region. During this meeting, the World Health Organization (WHO) presented the findings of their Health Technology Assessment and Health Benefit Package Survey 2020/2021 as well as their document Institutionalizing Health Technology Assessment Mechanisms: a How to Guide. Participants of the roundtable then reflected on the survey results and discussed the situation surrounding HTA institutionalization in their country.

In this HEOR Theater presentation, we will replicate the conversations that were held during the roundtable. First a short presentation will be provided by the WHO on the 2021 survey results and institutionalizing HTA how to document. Three participants from countries in the MEA region will then be asked to provide a short reflection on the document and the status of HTA in their country. The session will finish with a short Q&A from the audience.

The goal of the ISPOR HTA Roundtables is to discuss only among HTA bodies, public and private payers, other governmental decision makers, and academics when no HTA body exists in the country, the application of research on health technologies and to promote a valuable exchange of information, methods, and knowledge in the development of value assessment, or health technology assessment, in 5 major regions of the world (Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, Middle East and Africa, and North America). Additional information on the ISPOR HTA Roundtables are available here.

    Learning Objectives
