Biological medicines have changed the course of disease for many life-threatening conditions and those impacting patients’ quality of life. Examples include chronic diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and various forms of cancer. Healthcare budgets around the globe are however challenged by the success and high prices of biological medicines. Biosimilars offer a timely opportunity for healthcare systems, leading to lowered treatment costs by the introduction of market competition, and possibly improving access to biological therapies, especially for patient groups that had limited availability of the originator biological due to cost constraints. However, considerations around the long-term adequate pricing and reimbursement of biosimilars, and the potential for utilization by more patients are not always taken into account. As a result, this webinar will present an insightful exchange on best practices, challenges and opportunities for market access of biosimilars in different regions worldwide.
Guerric Radière will chair the webinar and set the scene for the discussion. Dalia Dawoud, Jeffrey Menzies, and Gaye Fortner will share considerations for payer decision-making on biosimilar access and discuss best practices, challenges and opportunities for fully realizing the promise of biosimilars in the respective regions.
Each of the speakers will engage with the audience through a live poll and interactive discussion. The final 10 minutes of the session will be reserved for Q&A with the attendees of the webinar.
Objectives:
• Gain insights on biosimilar market access in different regions of the world
• Gain understanding on best practices, challenges and opportunities for biosimilar market introduction
