OBJECTIVES: The VIP-Cardio survey (Value-based Indicators for Patients-centered Cardiovascular Care) aims to provide essential data on cardiac Patients Reported Outcomes and Experiences from healthcare in Greece. Thus, herein we present data related to basic clinical outcomes self reported Quality of Life indicators from patients who suffered a first-time Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) or underwent trans-catheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).

METHODS: This prospective study was conducted from November 2022 to June 2024 (being in progress) in four public tertiary hospitals in Greece. Consecutive cardiac patients (AMI or TAVI) were registered and followed up at the point of discharge and six months after discharge. Cardiac patient-reported quality of life was recorded using the generic EQ-5D-5L instrument

RESULTS: Out of 496 AMI patients [mean age 63.1 (SD=11.9), 79.4% men, 47.8% STEMI] only one person died during the acute phase and two during the hospitalization. The global EQ-5D-5L score was found 0.85 (SD=0.2) at the point of discharge and 0.92 (SD=0.14) six months after discharge. Improved scores (at the point of discharge) were found for men (compared to women p<0.001), for younger patients (<50 years, p<0.001), for STEMI patients (compared to non STEMI p=0.003) and for those patients who underwent angioplasty within the first 24hours after the event (p<0.001). Almost, 28% of AMI patients reported stress and depression at the point of discharge. Ιn relation to TAVI patients (N=241) [mean age 81 (SD=5), 50.4% men] only one died during the aortic valve implantation. The global EQ-5D-5L score was found 0.53 (SD=0.25) at the point of discharge with more than 2/3 of the TAVI patients reporting stress and depression and 54% reporting pain and discomfort.

CONCLUSIONS: To improve AMI and TAVI patient reported quality of life the in Greece, more psychological counseling should be provided to patients
