Getting Around

Transportation Services

Tokyo offers a highly efficient, reliable, and affordable transportation system that makes getting around the city seamless for visitors. Options include:

Tokyo International Airports (NRT & HND): Narita International Airport (NRT) and Haneda Airport (HND) both serve international and domestic travelers with modern facilities and easy access to central Tokyo.

  • Haneda Airport is located approximately 14 km (9 miles) from central Tokyo and is best for short travel times into the city.
  • Narita Airport, about 60 km (37 miles) away, is accessible via express train and airport limousine bus services.

Tokyo Metro & Toei Subway

  • Operated by Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway, Tokyo’s subway system includes 13 lines that connect major districts such as Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ginza, and Asakusa.
  • Trains run frequently and are known for punctuality, cleanliness, and safety.

JR East (Japan Rail)

  • The JR Yamanote Line is a convenient loop line that connects many of Tokyo’s most popular areas including Tokyo Station, Ikebukuro, and Harajuku.
  • JR services are also accessible with a Suica card or Japan Rail Pass for eligible visitors.

Taxis & Ride-Sharing

  • Taxis are widely available, clean, and safe—though often more expensive than public transport.
  • You can hail a taxi on the street, at hotels, or via apps such as GO (JapanTaxi).
  • Uber operates in Tokyo but is limited to high-end or pre-booked services.

Bike Sharing Services

  • Tokyo offers several bike-sharing programs like Docomo Bike Share, available across popular neighborhoods.
  • Bike rentals are a fun way to explore areas like Ueno Park, the Imperial Palace, or along the Sumida River.

Tour Details

  • Afternoon Tours (13:30–17:00):

The Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau will be the host and conduct all tours. The tour sign-up will be conducted on-site at the event’s information desk located in the registration area starting Sunday, September 28. Delegates interested in participating in the complimentary tours must book in ISPOR’s official hotel program to take part.
