ISPOR Announces 2019 Health Economics and Outcomes Research Awards

Lawrenceville, NJ, USA—April 15, 2019—ISPOR, the professional society for health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), announced today the honorees for its 2019 HEOR Scientific and Leadership Awards. ISPOR Scientific Awards are designed to foster and recognize excellence and outstanding technical achievement in HEOR and its Leadership Awards recognize excellence and outstanding leadership in the field. Avedis Donabedian Lifetime Achievement Award Marc L. Berger, MD is s recognized for his outstanding, life-long contribution to the improvement of health outcomes. Dr Berger is a consultant in New York, NY, USA and has had a long career in senior executive roles. Marilyn Dix Smith Leadership Award Josephine Mauskopf, PhD is recognized for her extraordinary leadership to the Society. Dr Mauskopf is vice president, health economics at RTI Health Solutions, Research Triangle Park, NC, USA. Bernie O’Brien New Investigator Award Zirui Song, MD, PhD is recognized as an investigator of exceptional promise. Dr Song is an associate professor of healthcare policy and medicine at Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA. Value in Health Paper of the Year Award Mónica Hérnandez, MSc, PhD received this award for her outstanding research paper, “EQ-5D-5L versus EQ-5D-3L: The Impact on Cost Effectiveness in the United Kingdom,” that was published in Value in Health in 2018. Dr Hernandez is with the University of Sheffield, Sheffield, England, UK. Value in Health Regional Issues Award (Latin America) José Miguel Uribe-Restrepo, MD, MPH received this award for his outstanding research paper, “Presenteeism, Absenteeism, and Lost Work Productivity among Depressive Patients from Five Cities of Colombia,” that was published in Value in Health Regional Issues in 2018. Dr Uribe-Restrepo is with Universidad Javeriana, Bogota, Colombia. Value in Health Regional Issues Award (Central and Eastern Europe, Western Asia, and Africa) Alexandra Beletsi, PharmD, PhD received this award for her outstanding research paper, “Comparing Use of Health Technology Assessment in Pharmaceutical Policy among Earlier and More Recent,” that was published in Value in Health Regional Issues in 2018. Dr Beletsi is with Servier Hellas Pharmaceuticals EPE, Athens, Greece.  Award for Excellence in Health Economics and Outcomes Research Methodology A. James O’Malley, MS, PhD is recognized for his outstanding research in the field of health economics and outcomes research methodology for the paper, “Modeling a Bivariate Residential-Workplace Neighborhood Effect when Estimating the Effect of Proximity to Fast-Food Establishments on Body Mass Index,” [published ahead of print November 20, 2018].
