OBJECTIVES: To determine if there are inequities in the overall survival of colorectal cancer in a city (Barranquilla) from the Colombian Caribbean, according to the health regime.

METHODS: Longitudinal study. 451 cases of colorectal cancer included, from the Barranquilla Population Cancer Registry, with histopathological diagnosis, and incidence date between 01/01/2013 and 12/31/2017. Follow-up was until 12/31/2022 and overall survival was compared according to health regimen and clinical stage using Kaplan-Meier and Log-rank, (SPSS-V22).

RESULTS: 45.5% were men; average age: 63+/-15.1 years; 33% were from the subsidized regime. Overall survival was 62.3% with a median time of 57.7+/-1.9 months. By clinical stage, it was 22.9% for IV, 59.3% for III, 63.6% for II, and 67.5% for I. Likewise, it was significantly higher in the contributory regime (p=0.0026) in terms of Percentage of alive 67% Vs 53%, but not according to survival time: 61.5 +/-2.2 Vs 49.2 +/-3.4 months (p=0.108) in general or by clinical stages (p=0.100).

CONCLUSIONS: There were differences in overall survival according to the regimen and this increased as the clinical stage decreased.
