The COVID-19 pandemic has brought significant challenges and disruption to the Latin America region since its emergence in February 2020, having exposed existing weakness in the region’s fragmented health systems. To prepare health systems for future pandemics, there is an urgent need in the region to optimize infrastructure and efficiencies for building sustainable health systems, invest in innovation and technology, and enhance health promotion and disease prevention. To help viewers better understand the region, this webinar brings together a panel of health experts across Latin America to provide multiple perspectives on the effects of COVID-19 in the healthcare of Latin America including regulatory change and innovation, public-private partnerships in health, digital transformation, regional and inter-regional cooperation and capacity building. The speakers will also share their experience and views on the role of health economic  and outcomes research (HEOR) in Latin America healthcare and how HEOR can be utilized to help tackle challenges in the Covid-19 era and beyond.

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop a broader understanding of the Latin America healthcare systems;
  • Know about the short- and long- term effects of COVID- 19 on the Latin America, particularly in healthcare;
  • Gain a better understanding of health challenges in the region, the role of HEOR and how HEOR can be utilized to support healthcare decision making in Latin America.
