The ISPOR Summit, “New
Approaches to Value Assessment: Towards More Informed Pricing in Healthcare,”
was convened to expand on the work of ISPOR’s Special Task Force on US Value
Assessment Frameworks and its research agenda, as well as work from other
related initiatives. The event provided a forum for researchers, regulators,
payers, and other stakeholders to examine the current state of healthcare value
assessment and its role in pricing and coverage decisions.
“Topics presented during this summit
may have limited effects on practices today or in the short-term; improving how
we measure value and make decisions is intrinsically a long-term effort,” said
Dr Willke. “Nevertheless, I hope that some of the ideas presented at the summit
and in this supplement will resonate with you, sparking experimentation and
leading to long-term improvements to value assessment frameworks. Advances here
are crucial for both today’s and tomorrow’s patients.”
ISPOR acknowledges and thanks the sponsors of this supplement: Evidera, the National Pharmaceutical Council, and the PhRMA Foundation.
