Value in Health Regional Issues CoverLawrenceville, NJ, USA—April 5, 2021—ISPOR—the professional society for health economics and outcomes research announced today that its regionally focused journal, Value in Health Regional Issues, has been selected for inclusion in the Web of Science.

Value in Health Regional Issues is an online, MEDLINE®-indexed journal that publishes articles on health-related topics that impact the health systems and health policies focusing on the following regions: (1) Asia; (2) Central and Eastern Europe, Western Asia, and Africa; and (3) Latin America. The journal’s mission is to provide a forum for the advancement and dissemination of research that examines the use of healthcare resources alongside the clinical and economic health outcomes of patient populations in these regions.

“This is a significant achievement for Value in Health Regional Issues,” said Nancy S. Berg, chief executive officer and executive director of ISPOR. “One of ISPOR’s goals is to strengthen the use of health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) around the world—particularly in regions where healthcare needs often outweigh resources and where HEOR could be vitally important. Having the articles from Value in Health Regional Issues be more accessible and discoverable through the Web of Science will help improve healthcare decisions for all patients,” said Berg.

The Web of Science evaluates journals based on 24 quality criteria (including content relevance, peer review, editorial board composition, etc) and selects journals based on editorial rigor and best practices. Articles published in Value in Health Regional Issues from January 2019 through the present will be included in the Emerging Sources Citation Index, part of the Web of Science Core Collection. “The health technology assessments and health policy research coming out of these regions has helped advance the science of health economics and outcomes research,” said Manuel A. Espinoza, MD, MSc, PhD, editor-in-chief, Value in Health Regional Issues, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Santiago, Chile. “Being selected into the Web of Science is an indication of the increasingly important role HEOR is playing in informing healthcare decisions around the world.”
