Princeton, NJ, USA and Bogota, Colombia, August 5, 2015 – The International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) announced an agreement with CAC (High Cost Disease Fund of Colombia), an organization within the Colombia Ministry of Health, dedicated to addressing issues surrounding the significant budget impact of high cost diseases in the country.

In a joint press conference yesterday, ISPOR CEO & Executive Director Nancy Berg announced that
“the partnership with CAC is an important step in supporting the development of sustainable health care systems throughout Latin America.” Berg also discussed the partnership’s alignment with ISPOR’s Strategic Plan, Vision 2020:
“Vision 2020 guides the Society to collaborate with global, regional and local organizations that share a common mission. Through this new partnership, ISPOR and CAC will collaborate with other stakeholders in developing a plan to disseminate information, educational materials and decision-making tools on health economics and outcomes research throughout the region.”
ISPOR is the leading international organization dedicated to promoting health economics and outcomes research excellence to improve decision making for health globally. Through more than 9000 members in 140 countries and an additional 9000 regional chapter members, ISPOR produces comprehensive education and training, decision-making tools and the largest meetings of health economics and outcomes professionals in Latin America, Europe, North America and Asia. More than 80 chapters and 80 student chapters of ISPOR operate locally to ensure delivery of regionally relevant content, information to support policy development, knowledge sharing and consensus building on local topics. There are currently 12 ISPOR Chapters throughout Latin America, including Colombia.
ISPOR will hold its biennial
Latin America Conference September 6-8, 2015 in Santiago, Chile. Plenary speakers for this meeting include:
- Jeanette Vega, MD, MPH, PhD, Director of FONASA (Chile National Health Fund);
- Norman Daniels, PhD, Mary B. Saltonstall Professor of Population Ethics and Professor of Ethics and Population Health, Department of Global Health and Population, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Harvard University; and
- Antony Culyer, Hon DEcon, Hon FRCP, FRSA, FMedSci, Ontario Research Chair in Health Policy and System Design, Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto.
The HTAnetLatAm, a group of health technology assessment experts from throughout the region will meet during the ISPOR Conference. In addition, CAC, REDETSA and PAHO will also hold workshops in conjunction with the ISPOR meeting, which is gaining prominence as an educational platform as well as convener of leaders and leading organizations in health care. ABOUT ISPOR COLOMBIA
