Pharmaceutical Market Access in Europe: Strategy, Evidence, and Decision Making

Pharmaceutical market access requires close alignment across medical, commercial, economic, pricing, and policy disciplines. This course examines the strategic role of market access in Europe from both the manufacturer and payer perspectives. Through presentations and a hands-on product launch simulation, learners will gain insight into how evidence, pricing decisions, and policy environments shape access across the product lifecycle.

Technical Topics Include:
• Strategic imperatives of market access and its role throughout drug development
• Rational healthcare decision making and health technology assessment (HTA) fundamentals
• Managing uncertainty in HTA evaluation and payer decision processes
• Reimbursement pathways, revenue considerations, and sub-national access dynamics
• Special considerations for orphan drugs and advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs)
• Aligning global, national, and regional access strategies through evidence planning

This Course Includes Practical Tools and Concepts That Can Be Immediately Applied, Including:
• A guided simulation of a European product launch to explore real-world access challenges
• Techniques for integrating market access planning early in development
• Insights into optimizing pricing, reimbursement, and evidence generation to support successful market entry

Hands-on exercises during the workshop will encourage participants to analyze strategic drivers and uncertainties, identify evidence gaps, understand value drivers and consider the significance of an optimal launch sequence for different product scenarios.
