OBJECTIVES: The purpose of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) student benefit survey is to understand perceived benefits of student membership; identify suggested future membership benefits to improve student engagement; and identify drivers of a smooth transition from a student to a new professional member.

METHODS: The pre-established ISPOR student benefit survey is distributed every two years to active student ISPOR members. The survey was administered via SurveyMonkey from February 22, 2022, to April 30, 2022. An invitation email with the survey was sent to all active student ISPOR members. Survey responses were extracted in Microsoft Excel and descriptive statistics were used to summarize the collected data.

RESULTS: A total of 111 complete responses were received. The majority of members perceived that the most useful current membership benefits were discounted rates for ISPOR conferences, short courses, and membership (69%), ISPOR travel grants (62%), and access to educational and professional development webinars (55%). For potential future membership benefits, the majority of respondents suggested offering professional mentorship programs (75%), catalog of research funding opportunities (68%), and discounts on data access fees (49%). To better assist with a smooth transition from a student to a new professional, the majority of respondents were interested in direct mentoring from HEOR professionals (62%), fostering connections between individuals from the same field of study across the globe (58%), and more career development workshops at ISPOR conferences (53%).

CONCLUSIONS: To increase the interest in student membership, discounted membership and ISPOR travel grant opportunities are expected to continue. Future potential benefits suggested for being ISPOR members include professional mentorship matching, database of funding opportunities, and discounts on data access fees.
