2018 Chapter Activities

A series of trainings and informational activities were organized by the ISPOR Italy-Rome Chapter throughout 2018. These included:

1) Creating a Chapter Website in Italian, which provides updated information on chapter projects and coverage of organized/or attended events

2) Performing interviews with world experts in health economics and health technology assessment that were broadcasted by the national television network and web channels

3) Continuing active chapter involvement on social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn

2018 4th National Congress of ISPOR Italy-Rome Chapter

The congress program included presentation by the chapter president on its current activities and future projects Additionally, information was shared about ISPOR's mission, vision, strategy, and participation in regional and international events. A new chapter website was revealed and can be visited here. The congress also served as an opportunity to highlight chapter’s contribution to the program of the ISPOR Europe 2017 conference held in Glasgow, November 2017. Information on chapter members who received travel grants and who were recognized for the best poster presentation was shared. Scientific presentations based on abstracts submitted to the ISPOR Europe conference were delivered. The conference was attended by 60 chapter and non-chapter members working in the field of HEOR.

ISPOR Italy–Rome Chapter

The ISPOR Italy–Rome Chapter was established in May 2014. While the chapter is young and has a recently approved constitution, it has already worked on several projects:

Project "EUPATI", Project "Italian QoL", Project "HTA towards decision – makers in Public Health concerning Vaccines2", Project "Measure, assess and improve the diabetes patient's pathway in Italy", Project "National Observatory on blindness: social costs and indirect costs".

The above projects have been realized thanks to the collaboration of the ALTEMS-Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, CEIS-EEHTA – Università di Tor Vergata, EUPATI – European patients ' Academy on Therapeutic innovation, Ospedale San Pietro and others.

The future objectives that the Rome Chapter would like to achieve are focused on the organization of regional training courses, to form and inform general public and professionals on HTA and for the dissemination of the guidelines and initiatives of ISPOR.

ISPOR Italy-Rome Chapter is planning to organize the two day 5th National Congress of the Chapter in April of 2018:

On the first day, the short courses on HE-Health Economics, MCDA/meta, and determination of pricing and reimbursement in Italy have been planned to organize.

On the second day, there are some debates planned to realize on the impact of the value of new technologies on spending and the social field, with interventions by representatives of the social part institutions. It is planned the promotion of the ISPOR guidelines and initiatives and it will conclude with oral presentations and sponsoring readings of pharmaceutical companies.

ISPOR Italy-Rome Participation at ISPOR Europe 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland, UK

The ISPOR Italy-Rome Chapter conducted a very successful meeting on 7 November during ISPOR Europe 2017

Prof Alberto Migliore, President of the ISPOR Italy-Chapter and Dr Andrea Marcellusi, member of the Board of Directors of ISPOR Italy-Rome Chapter have been the moderators and the speakers of the meeting.

The meeting presented a report on the activities carried out by the ISPOR Italy-Rome Chapter from 2014 to date, as well as presented the future projects.

It was agreed that the main objective of the chapter's activities needs to be aimed to inform and to train the general public and professionals, spreading the guidelines of ISPOR.

It has been communicated to the attendees about the organization of the ISPOR Italy-Rome Chapter 2-day National Congress on 17-18 April 2018, which will include the pre-congress short courses on HTA topics.

Many researchers, doctors, pharma professionals, pharmacists, academia, consulting agents and winners of the 2018 grant have attended the meeting.

In fact, every year ISPOR Italy-Rome Chapter makes available to all researchers 10 grants to participate at the ISPOR Europe conference.
