ABSTRACT WITHDRAWN
OBJECTIVES: One crucial aspect of the 2030 vision of Saudi Arabia toward development of technology is the full digitalization of data, in which the care of the patient will be enhanced by utilizing these technologies in medical sector1. Since the applications or systems that directly dealt by patients are scarce. Our objective from this review is to find existing applications and assess them to detect what are the patient needs and what will maximize the patient's quality of life through further development of these technologies.
METHODS: In April 2023, a systematic review using Pubmed and Google Scholar databases was conducted to find the existing technology applications or systems that conducted in Saudi Arabia in various regions. There was no exclusion criteria since the purpose was to include all available applications.
RESULTS: A total of 15 applications were found; (2) application used by paramedic for transferring the patient to hospital, (1) for people who willing to donate blood, (2) for cardiovascular diseases-related, (1) for knee osteoarthritis, (2) for obesity-related, (3) for diabetes-related and (4) for enhancing healthcare services.
CONCLUSIONS: Very few medical applications were found in our systematic review when comparing to the huge technological revolution around the globe. We did not find any application that related to medication management. So, in Saudi Arabia, it’s of importance to build an application or a system that provides the following functions:[medications reconciliation, alerting patient about duplication and interactions of medications, medication history, reporting about loss of doses especially with controlled and narcotics medications, tracking compliance and scheduling of doses].
