Develop and apply budget impact analyses (BIA) for real-world decision making
This hands-on course provides the conceptual and practical tools needed to design, adapt, and communicate budget impact analyses (BIA). It focuses on real-world applications, payer-specific considerations, and effective value communication.
Technical topics include:
- Core BIA concepts and a 6-step design framework
- Static vs dynamic budget impact models
- Best practices for Excel-based model development
- Customization for payer-specific data and real-world assumptions
- Interpretation of results and development of value messages
This course includes tools and concepts that can be immediately applied, including:
- Hands-on use of Excel-based BIA models (static and dynamic)
- Exercises to adapt models to real-world scenarios
- Small group activities to plan and implement model modifications
- Strategies for communicating results to support decision-making
Participants will gain the knowledge and skills to build, adapt, and communicate BIA models that effectively inform healthcare decisions. Registrants who wish to participate in the interactive portions of the course will need to bring their computer (with Microsoft Excel application).
PREREQUISITE: Participants are expected to have familiarity with basic BIA concepts and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. A microcourse on the basics of BIA is available in the ISPOR Education Center.
