Abstract
Health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) has played a foundational role in advancing evidence-based decision making in healthcare over the past 4 decades. In particular, HEOR has formalized approaches to inform health technology assessment (HTA), reimbursement, coverage, and payment for pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics, and other health technologies. These contributions supported the emergence of formal HTA agencies and payer decision frameworks across many health systems and jurisdictions, encouraging greater transparency, consistency, and accountability in coverage and pricing decisions. In this article, informed by our experience as ISPOR member experts, we describe a vision for advancing the field.
