Abstract

Thank you for the opportunity to provide a reply to this letter.

We agree that, with COVID-19 vaccination, older adults have a lower hazard ratio of hospitalization relative to younger adults. So, it is reasonable to experience a lower rate of hospitalization with the older population. Our article, which the author refers to, showed that the booster vaccine reduces hospitalization per 100 000 population by 44.27 (for ≥75 years), followed by 36.44 (for 65–74 years), and 23.23 (for 18–64 years). This evidence aligns with the author’s claim, which should lead to a lower cost of healthcare utilization (because of hospitalization) for older adults relative to younger adults.
