Response to Comments on “No Study Left Behind- A Network Meta-Analysis in Non–Small-Cell Lung Cancer Demonstrating the Importance of Considering All Relevant Data”

Abstract

When making inferences regarding efficacy and answering the question “does (did) this treatment do something to someone?” analysis of individual trials, with their high degree
of internal validity, is the gold standard. Nevertheless, when attempting to predict the comparative effectiveness of the range of potential treatments for a specific future patient, consideration of the set of trial evidence is essential. This consideration is aided by the statistical analysis of the set or network of trial evidence.
