Abstract
This themed section in Value in Health Regional Issues highlights health equity research from across the globe. Efforts to understand and reduce health inequities, which the World Health Organization defines as systematic, socially produced, and unfair differences in health, have long been central to public health.1 Health equity research seeks to quantify and address variations in health and healthcare—commonly referred to as disparities, inequalities, or inequities—and to identify the underlying factors contributing to these differences.
