Abstract

We appreciate the thoughtful correspondence from scholars who argue that our previous critiques of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) compartmental models were unfair. It is essential to clarify our stance on this issue. First, there is a large amount of literature that demonstrates the shortfalls of compartmental models. We encourage readers to engage with studies such as Gatto et al, and those by Hauser et al that critically examine these models’ constraints and propose new avenues for improving their quality.
