Savings Through Telemedicine: Addressing Hidden Costs and Quality Concerns

Abstract

I am writing to express my appreciation for the recent publication entitled “Savings Through Telemedicine: Initial Data From a Hospital-at-Home Program” published in Value in Health Regional Issues. This study presents a significant contribution of evaluating the economic burdens of telemedicine among patients who have been hospitalized. The authors conducted well-designed retrospective research involving 132 patients. The findings indicate that the use of telemedicine is high, and this group of patients is stable, with only 10.6% being transferred back to the hospital because of deterioration of their condition. Telemedicine is such a good way to reduce the economic and time burden for home-based care.
