Description

With HEOR’s interdisciplinary nature — spanning clinical research, epidemiology, health policy, and data science — early-career HEOR professionals may find themselves navigating a steep learning curve while identifying the skills, relationships, and experiences that will shape their careers.

Although formal HEOR training involves a strong technical and didactic foundation, many successes in HEOR are driven by interpersonal ‘soft’ skills and experience: understanding how to communicate evidence to different stakeholders, building and maintaining cross-functional collaborations, and strategically developing and showcasing expertise in a rapidly evolving field. As AI continues to evolve and transform technical aspects of research, these human-centered skills remain critical, even more so in the age of AI.

This webinar will feature a panel of three highly successful HEOR professionals in academia, industry, and health technology, as they reflect on the lessons they wish they had known at the start of their careers. The speakers will share practical insights on navigating early career decisions, challenges faced early in their careers, developing technical and strategic skills, building professional networks, and positioning yourself for long-term success environments. Designed for new professionals and students, this session will provide candid perspectives and actionable advice to help attendees approach the early stages of their HEOR careers with greater confidence and direction.

Dr. Julia Slejko will share insights on building a research portfolio, navigating grants and publications, and mentoring students for early career academics. Dr. Sanket Shah will discuss building a career in the pharmaceutical industry, including cross-functional collaboration and communicating value to a range of stakeholders. Dr. Blythe Adamson will highlight the challenges and opportunities of establishing a career in the health technology sector, including applying HEOR methods to rapidly changing data and innovative environments.

The webinar will include a panel discussion followed by dedicated time for audience questions and answers.
