event-Short-Courses

November 8, 2026

Explore value assessment of innovative drugs across stakeholder perspectives

This course examines how different stakeholders assess the value of innovative drugs, including regulators, payers, investors, and other decision-makers. It highlights how value frameworks vary across contexts such as regulatory approval, coverage decisions, and pricing and reimbursement.

Technical topics include:

  • Stakeholder perspectives on value, including regulators, payers, investors, patients, and employers
  • Clinical, economic, and societal criteria used in value assessment
  • Value-based pricing approaches and ICER-based frameworks
  • Financial valuation from the investor perspective
  • Value considerations for orphan drugs and advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs)

This course includes tools and concepts that can be immediately applied, including:

  • Frameworks for evaluating value across different healthcare decision contexts
  • Understanding how pricing and reimbursement decisions are informed by value assessment
  • Insights into investor perspectives and financial valuation considerations
  • Evaluating real-world factors such as quality of life, budget impact, productivity, and healthcare resource use

Participants will gain a clearer understanding of how the value of medical innovation is defined, assessed, and applied across stakeholder groups to support healthcare decision-making. Familiarity with health economic evaluation is desirable, but the course assumes little or no familiarity with economic valuation theory.
