Description

As the global healthcare landscape continues to evolve, there is an increasing interest from healthcare decision makers to meaningfully incorporate the patient perspective and to address the current and potential inequities to access. Unlike traditional market access—which often centers on regulatory approval and reimbursement—patient-centered access emphasizes the lived experience of navigating care that is timely, affordable, culturally appropriate, and outcomes-driven.

This webinar will convene leaders from three ISPOR Special Interest Groups—Health Equity Research, Global Access to Medical Innovation, and Patient-Centered—for a discussion surrounding how equity-focused research methodologies can enhance patient-centered access to innovation. This session will also explore the distinction between market access and patient-centered access, identify the common barriers toward accessing medical innovations globally, and offer insights into how existing access frameworks often fall short in aligning with what matters most to patients.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand how each special interest group conceptualizes and defines access in their specific contexts.
  • Identify research methods in health equity and their potential to better capture patient-relevant outcomes.
  • Explore how patient-centered definitions of access can inform equitable and value-based health policy and practice across global contexts.
