OBJECTIVES: In July of 2020 Oriahnn was approved in the United States for the treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) due to Uterine fibroids (UF). To date no studies have been published examining the use of Oriahnn in the real world. This study aims to describe the baseline characteristics the patient population being treated with Oriahnn.

METHODS: Descriptive retrospective study using Symphony Health (SHA) early view data. which utilizes retrospective medical and pharmacy claims data. Patients had to have at least one prescription fill for Oriahnn from 07/01/2020 through 09/01/2021, were of adult age, and continuously enrolled for 6 months prior to first Oriahnn fill. All comorbiditiesand test were defined from the claims using standard codes.

RESULTS: A total of 1,924 patients have been enrolled in the study. Median age at the baseline was 43 (38-47) years. 65.9% of the patients reported their race of which 44.3% classified as Caucasian and 38.8% African American. 64.5% of patients reported their annual income, of those over 50% had an income less than $50,000 and 22.7% reported an income over $100,000. The most common procedures/tests performed in the baseline were diagnostic (ultrasounds [15.8%], blood tests [14.4%] and biopsy [7.4%]), 25.3% of patients were diagnosed with UF, 17.7% had HMB, and 14.8% had anemia.

CONCLUSIONS: Most patients using Oriahnn were greater than 39 year old, Caucasian, and have lower annual income. 43% did not have a claim for UF and/or HMB in the 6 months prior to starting Oriahnn. This suggests that diagnosed UF and HMB are not regularly recoded in claims databases.
