Women Around the World Recognized at Event in New York City  Princeton, NJ—November 21,  2016—The International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) CEO and Executive Director Nancy Berg has been named the winner of a Silver Stevie® Award in the Female Executive of the Year category in the 13th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business. The Stevie Awards for Women in Business are the world’s top honors for female entrepreneurs, executives, employees, and the organizations they run. All individuals and organizations worldwide are eligible to submit nominations—public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small. The 2016 awards received entries from 31 nations and territories. Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word for “crowned,” the awards were presented to winners on November 18, 2016 during a dinner event attended by more than 500 people at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. The event was broadcast on Livestream. More than 1,400 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in more than 90 categories, including Entrepreneur of the Year, Executive of the Year, Company of the Year, Startup of the Year, Women Helping Women, and Women Run Workplace of the Year, among others. ISPOR’s Nancy Berg won in the Female Executive of the Year category for Government or Nonprofit—11 to 2,500 Employees. Berg was hired by ISPOR’s Board of Directors in 2014. Her arrival marked the first change in leadership since the Society’s inception and came just months before the Society celebrated its 20th anniversary. Under Berg’s leadership, the Society has developed and implemented a new strategic plan that cements ISPOR’s position as a global leader in health economics and outcomes research. Prior to joining ISPOR, Berg’s list of accomplishments was impressive: her résumé showed a history of remarkable and transformational leadership roles at two large professional societies, as well as strong commitments to community and volunteer work. Berg’s career transition to health care is noteworthy. She resolved to refocus her career after her husband was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. During his treatment and recovery, Berg developed a deep appreciation for the role that health care research plays in patients’ well-being. After this life-changing experience, she made the conscious decision to focus her career in the health care sector. Stevie Award winners were selected by more than 160 professionals worldwide who participated in the judging process this year. “Each year we think the quality of achievements portrayed in Stevie-winning nominations couldn’t possibly get any better, and each year the amazing women who are recognized in this program prove us wrong,” said Michael Gallagher, Stevie Awards founder and president.  “We are thrilled and humbled to be able to recognize so many outstanding women in the Stevie Awards for Women in Business, and to share the stories of their achievement with the world.” Details about the Stevie Awards for Women in Business and the list of Stevie Award winners are available at www.StevieAwards.com/Women.
