ISPOR RECOGNIZES 2015 AWARDS PROGRAM RECIPIENTS AT 18th ANNUAL EUROPEAN CONGRESS

AWARDS RECOGNIZE EXCELLENCE AND OUTSTANDING TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENT IN PHARMACOECONOMICS AND OUTCOMES RESEARCH

 Milan, Italy—November 11, 2015—The International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) recognized its 2015 ISPOR Award recipients at the 18th Annual European Congress in Milan, Italy. The ISPOR Awards Program is designed to foster and recognize excellence and outstanding technical achievement in pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research.  The 2015 ISPOR award recipients recognized at the 18th Annual European Congress include the following: Avedis Donabedian Outcomes Research Lifetime Achievement Award: This award was established in honor of the late Avedis Donabedian, MD, MPH, to acknowledge those individuals who have made a major contribution to the improvement of health outcomes. Professor Anthony John (Tony) Culyer, CBE, Hon DEcon, FMedSci Emeritus Professor of Economics, University of York, UK Value in Health Paper of the Year Award: The Value in Health Paper of the Year Award is given to the best paper published in Value in Health (hard copy) in the previous calendar year that represents a major contribution to the field of pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research or its use in health care decision making. Lucas M.A. Goossens, PhD Assistant Professor of Quantitative Analysis, Erasmus University, institute for Health Policy & Management, Rotterdam, The Netherlands Value in Health Regional Issues Excellent Article Award: The Value in Health Regional Issues Excellent Article Award was established in 2014 to recognize the best article published from a region - Asia, Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, Western Asia, and Africa (CEEWAA). Rok Hren, PhD Assistant Professor, University of Ljubljana, Ljubljana, Slovenia In addition, ISPOR’s Research Presentation Podium and Poster Awards, established in 1998 to recognize the scientific merit of podium and poster presentations of the ISPOR Annual International Meetings, Annual European Congresses, and Asia-Pacific and Latin America Conferences, were also presented at the Congress. This year, over 120 judges evaluated 48 podium presentations and over 100 nominated poster presentations. 2015 ISPOR award recipients that were previously recognized at the ISPOR 20th Annual International Meeting in May 2015 in Philadelphia, PA, USA include the following: Marilyn Dix Smith Leadership Award: This award recognizes one individual each year that has provided extraordinary leadership to the Society. Zeba M. Khan, RPh, PhD Vice President, Celgene Corporation, Summit, NJ, USA Bernie O’Brien New Investigator Award: This award was established to honor the long standing commitment of Bernie J. O’Brien, PhD, to training and mentoring new scientists in the fields of outcomes research and pharmacoeconomics. Anupam B. Jena, MD, PhD Assistant Professor, Harvard Health Care Policy, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA Awards for Excellence in Methodology and Practical Application in Pharmacoeconomics and Health Outcomes Research: These awards recognize outstanding research in the field of pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research methodology and distinguish an example of applied health outcomes research that has or is expected to have a high impact on health policy or health care decision making, respectively. Award for Excellence in Methodology in Pharmacoeconomics and Health Outcomes Research Lisa A. Prosser, PhD Associate Professor and Interim Director, Child Health Evaluation and Research (CHEAR) Unit, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Award for Excellence in Application of Pharmacoeconomics and Health Outcomes Research Joshua A.
