OBJECTIVES

: To examine disease burden of Crohn’s Disease (CD) patients with and without prior surgery in EU5.

METHODS

: A multi-center medical chart-review study was conducted in Q1 2018 among physicians (mainly- gastroenterologists) to collect data on CD patients recently treated with a biologic in EU5. ‘Surgery-experienced’ patients were defined as patients who have had surgery at least once for treatment of CD. Data on demographics, symptomatology, disease-severity, comorbidities and treatment patterns was assessed and compared among patients with and without surgery-experience using descriptive statistics.

: In this study, the surgery-experienced CD biologic patients have higher disease burden and longer disease duration compared to surgery-naïve patients.
