OBJECTIVES: Breast cancer (BC) treatment is changing with the advent of novel agents. There is currently little information on real-world UK treatment patterns of patients with HR+, HER2- BC patients. We present characteristics and treatment patterns for such patients treated at a major UK cancer centre. METHODS: A retrospective review of patient health records from January 2012 to March 2018 (largely prior to NHS reimbursement of CDK 4/6 inhibitors). Eligible patients (female ≥ 18 with metastatic or locally advanced, HR+, HER2- BC) were identified from coded data, unstructured text and clinical review by senior oncologists. Exclusion criteria: clinical trial enrollment, operable local recurrence as only disease site, incomplete treatment record, significant secondary malignancy. Patient characteristics, systemic therapies (by treatment intent), surgery, radiotherapy, use of supportive treatments, monitoring and use of health care resources are presented. RESULTS: CONCLUSIONS: Real world analysis demonstrates diverse treatment pathways for HR+, HER2- BC, reflecting the personalised care these patients receive. Ongoing longitudinal analyses will demonstrate the impact of new agents on clinical practice. Patients with overt metastatic disease at presentation comprise a substantial proportion of those treated for advanced/metastatic BC.
