OBJECTIVES: Definition of indicators of availability and consumption of antihistamine drugs (ADs) in Ukraine in 2017.

METHODS: To analyze the socio-economic accessibility of ADs, the indicator of adequacy of solvency (Ca.s.) was calculated, which shows the share of wages that is spent on purchasing a monthly ADs rate, the cost of which was calculated using the retail cost of packing the drugs. Calculation of ADs consumption was carried out on the basis of ATC/DDD methodology according to the data of retail sales of ADs of the information system of market research of Ukraine "Pharmstandard" of the company "Morion".

RESULTS: In Ukraine in 2017 160 trade names (TN) of ADs were registered on the basis of 17 INN. In the largest number are preparations of 2 and 3 generations of ADs: desloratadine (30 TN), levocetirizine (29 TN) and loratadine (29 TN). According to the calculated values of the indicator of Ca.s it is established that ADs for the population of Ukraine during 2017 is represented by high-availability TN. According to the results of the study, the consumption of all ADs was 10.6 DDDs per 1000 inhabitants/day. Based on the indicators of total consumption of ADs and considering that the number of patients with allergic diseases is about 20% of the population of Ukraine, it was found that in 11.1% of the population received ADs every day during the year, which in recalculation corresponds to only 6.87% patients who 2 times a year for 1 month consumed ADs.

CONCLUSIONS: Low indicator Ca.s. confirms the availability of ADs and guarantees their consumption in conditions of low solvency of the population. The ADs consumption level confirmed that there are a large number of patients who receive these drugs not in full or do not receive adequate quality antihistamine therapy at all.
