OBJECTIVES: There are not many breastfeeding friendly premises at public places, most of times there are just diaper-changing rooms and the women’s restrooms that are available. The aim of our study is to assess the circumstances of breast feeding in public, its influencing factors from the mothers’ perspective.

METHODS: A cross-sectional, quantitative, descriptive study was carried out in Hungary. Data were collected through an anonym, self-made questionnaire. 951 mothers participated in our study, who answered about breastfeeding 1120 children.

RESULTS: CONCLUSIONS: We would like to enhance the importance of breastfeeding, and to grant breastfeeding friendly premises for mothers.
