OBJECTIVES: , Fabrication of Emulsion and to explore the clinical outcome of Emulsion containing seed extract of Psoralia corylifolia METHODS: , Hydroalchohlic extract of grinded seed of P.C was screened on basis of phytochemistry. Antioxidant potential of herbal extract was measured by various radical scavenging assays (DPPH, nitric oxide, superoxide and hydroxyl). Total phenolics calculated spectrophotometrically. Thirteen formulations (creams) were attempted by variable concentration of emulsifying agent in accordance with response surface methodology (RSM). Three of the formulations containing 5% extract of P.C were tested for stability at different temperature and humidity conditions to optimize in vitro, the most suitable drug delivery system. Rheology studies were performed to determine the viscosity on shear stress. RESULTS: , Hydroalchoholic extract of P.C possess significant radical scavenging potential (77.27%, 77.72%, 82.50 and 89.84% with increasing concentrations) and phenolic contents. An emulsion formulation containing 5% hydroalchohlic extract of P.C was found stable at 0 C, C, 25Cand 30C.
CONCLUSIONS: :, An emulsion containing 5 % hydroalchoholic extract of Psoralia corylifolia was characterized successfully.
