OBJECTIVES: There is considerable literature from developed nations on the effect of body mass index (BMI) on outcomes following cardiac surgery. Increased BMI is associated with an increased postoperative morbidity. World health organization (WHO) has suggested modified scale for Asians to categorize BMI.
