OBJECTIVES: : Uncontrolled blood pressure (BP) attributed to medication non-adherence may increase the risk of complications and death. The theory of planned behavior (TPB) proposes that the hypertensive patient’s attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control predict intention to perform behavior, leading to prediction of medication adherence.
