DESCRIPTION: Participants will learn about a scoping review and the process including:  1) what is a scoping review and when is it most appropriate to use? 2) how does a scoping review compare to other types of evidence synthesis and reviews? 3) good practices for conducting a scoping review, including the do’s and don’ts; 4) a real world example to illustrate the challenges and learnings from the scoping review undertaken by the ISPOR Nutrition Economics SIG and 5) participants will have the chance to pose their own research questions that we will work through together.  Members of the Nutrition Economics SIG are experienced researchers working in academia, industry and CROs.  However, the group encountered a number of challenges while conducting the recent review.  Because this specific review method is a valuable knowledge synthesis tool, we believe other ISPOR members would benefit from this training and from our experience. The scoping review process is an iterative process, thus this forum lends itself to audience interaction.  Participants will have the opportunity to pose their own real-life research questions with discussion leaders facilitating a discussion of how to implement the scoping review process.  The presentation will be valuable for researchers, clinicians and those working in the field who want to identify gaps in the literature to summarize evidence for guiding research activities or for decision support.
