OBJECTIVES: There are limited available data on regional variance in platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors (GPI) utilization. The Premier hospital database is one of the largest hospital clinical and economic databases, representing all geographical areas of the United States, a broad range of bed sizes, and teaching, nonteaching, urban, and rural facilities. This analysis of the Premier database examines regional variances and changes in GPI utilization in annual periods from 2008 through 2014. METHODS: PCI data from nine US regions defined by the Premier hospital database were collected in late 2015 for all PCI procedures meeting the following criteria: discharge Jan 1, 2008 – December 31, 2014; received either an antithrombotic or antithrombotic + GPI on day of PCI; were age ≥ 18 years old with known gender; had non-missing PCI service day information; LOS<=90 day and 0<cost <=$100,000 (cost was converted to 2014 US dollars). The analysis excludes any hospitals that did not have PCI in any year from 2008 to 2014. RESULTS:
