OBJECTIVES: To compare procedural, effectiveness, ovarian failure (OF) and patients’ experience (PE) outcomes of uterine artery embolization (UAE) in relation to the surgical interventions for symptomatic uterine fibroids (SUL). METHODS: We searched Medline, Embase, Lilacs and CENTRAL in October 2014 for randomised controlled trials of UAE versus any surgical therapy for SUL. Two reviewers independently selected studies, assessed quality, and extracted data. To compare the surgical procedures an indirect treatment comparison was performed. RESULTS:
