Adherence of outpatient cancer patients to oral oncolytic medications

OBJECTIVES:

Adherence to oral oncolytic therapies has been reported to be 15% to 78% and this poor adherence results in suboptimal therapeutic outcomes, including relapses and early death (Hansen, L. 2015). We estimated adherence to oral oncolytics by outpatients who were on a specialty pharmacy (SP) service.

METHODS:

The study was a retrospective analysis of the SP’s database of cancer patients.
