OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to assess factors that may be associated with the health-related quality of life (HrQoL) of asthma-patients. METHODS: Data were collected in an ongoing prospective observational study. Randomly selected German outpatient general practitioners and pulmonologists consecutively enrolled patients with confirmed asthma diagnosis from January to November 2015. At the time of study inclusion, patients were asked to complete a written questionnaire including the Short Form 36. In addition, treating physicians documented patients’ clinical characteristics and treatment history. Predictors of mental as well as physical HrQoL were estimated in a multivariate regression model. Independent variables that did not reach statistical significance were excluded from the model (backward elimination). RESULTS:
