OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATION AND DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS USE AMONG OLDER ADULTS

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to examine the prevalence and patterns of over-the-counter (OTC) medicine and dietary supplements use among older adults in South Korea for more than 3 months period. METHODS: The data were drawn from the 2009 Korea Health Panel database by selecting 2,910 Koreans aged 65 years or older. Data on self-reported OTC drugs and dietary supplements use longer than 3 months and demographic characteristics were collected from participants using a questionnaire and multiple logistic analysis was performed to estimate the factors associated with OTC and dietary supplements use.
