Presentation Documents

Advances in healthcare data and analytics have rapidly increased the speed of evidence generation, enabling aggregate-level insights to inform clinical decision faster than ever before. This includes the creation and curation of real-world data (RWD) from electronic health record (EHR) systems and the synthesis of RWD into real world evidence (RWE) insights. Using COVID-19 as a case study, this theater presentation will walk through:

1) EHR-driven RWD generation
2) RWE generation using RWD
3) Insight dissemination from RWE back to healthcare practices to support evidence-based decision making

In discussing the cycle of data generation to facilitate evidence creation and dissemination, the presenters will identify key learnings as well as challenges and limitations, balancing the perspectives of both the manufacturer and the researchers behind the scenes working to answer vital questions around COVID-19 as its real-world use expanded. Different information dissemination strategies will be presented along with a frank assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches.
