Resistance to antimicrobial drugs (AB) is an urgent problem in the world. According to the WHO data it is projected that by 2050 nearly 10 million people a year will die from previously successfully controlled infections. That’s why it is necessary to expand the specialized CME Clinical Pharmacy (CPh) training course about the AB rational usage for doctors’ in Ukraine (UA). In order to determine the need in advanced knowledge of CPh aspects of AB usage for doctors’ in UA we have developed with help of Google Forms a questionnaire consisted of two parts: 1. Biographical data; confidence in the AB prescription; pharmacotherapy knowledge self-assessment. 2. Practical cases on the rational AB usage. The survey was attended by 190 people: the average age – 27 years; 64.2% – women, 35.8% – men; 56.8% – interns, 43.2% – practicing doctors; 15.8% – confident in their decision when prescribing AB, 12.6% – did not prescribe AB by themselves, 71.6% – hesitated before appointing an AB and consult with colleagues; 77.9% – in need of raising their knowledge level about rational AB usage. So that we have developed an on-line course on CPh aspect of rational AB usage for UA doctors’ on the Moodle platform (6 hours) which consists from such sections: diagnostic assessment; glossary; video lectures materials; thematic forum discussion; summative test control (75% or better results is obligatory to receive a certificate of participation). The course which consists of practical cases on rational safe and effective AB therapy is already available for doctors’ in UA. For the first two months 634 people have been already completed it. The results of the summative control demonstrate the positive dynamic which will fundamentally analyzed in a few more months and we hope that such educational initiative is going to be an important step on the way to overcome AB resistance.
