ABSTRACT WITHDRAWN
OBJECTIVES:
To evaluate the Cost-Effectiveness of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program in the management of Urinary Tract Infections (ASP-UTI) from an economic and effectiveness perspective in a fourth-level healthcare institution in the city of Bogotá during the years 2018 and 2019 through an economic evaluation.METHODS:
Through an economic evaluation, the cost-effectiveness of the ASP-UTI was determined in relation to medical costs and outcomes of interest such as Quality-Adjusted Life Years (QALYs), hospitalization days, and Medication-Related Problems (MRPs) in adult patients using monitored antimicrobials in the ICU and hospitalization services of a fourth-level institution in the city of Bogotá during the years 2018 and 2019.RESULTS:
The Incremental Cost-Effectiveness Ratio (ICER) obtained was $11,753,311.53 COP ($2,708.13 USD), indicating that the alternative "Management of Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) patients requiring hospitalization or ICU management under the ASP-UTI guidelines" is cost-effective.CONCLUSIONS:
The study supports the implementation of ASP in different healthcare institutions in the region using economic evaluations as a key input for decision-making. It is concluded that the ASP-UTI is cost-effective in relation to costs and health outcomes of interest measured in Quality-Adjusted Life Years (QALYs) during the healthcare process. Continued evaluation of these technologies in the country's institutions is suggested.Conference/Value in Health Info
