OBJECTIVES: Legal requirements for the use of herbal medicinal preparations (HMP) are in force in 79 countries of the world. In 24 countries there are HMPs included in the national List of essential medicines, in particular, in China, Germany, France, Ukraine and others. The State Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine (1st edition, 2001, 2^nd edition, 2014) has approved the requirements for HMP, and the 2022 State Formulary of Medicines in Ukraine contains a significant number of HMP, which necessitates the analysis of evidence-based medicine sources about HMP to create new trainings for pharmacists about the rational use of HMP based on evidences and pharmacoeconomic studies.

METHODS: Analysis by the key words "herbal medicinal preparation", "evidence-based", "plant", "pharmacoeconomics"; systematic and content analysis were used in databases Pubmed, Cochrane reviews, MedlinePlus.

RESULTS: We found that the MedlinePlus database contains the most complete systematized information on HMP monographs on 182 medicinal plants and active pharmaceutical ingredients and macronutrients from plants. We determined that on June,1, 2023, the Cochrane database contains 166 systematic reviews, 18 Cochrane protocols, and 9,794 clinical trials of herbal preparations. Thus, we have established than 5.6 times increase in evidence-based information about HMP in the Cochrane database for 2016-2023, which requires the creation and implementation new educational program into the postgraduate pharmacy education to provide good pharmaceutical practice by evidence-based idata and cost-effectiveness HMP for alternative treatment..

CONCLUSIONS: We implemented a new curricullum and training at the department for postgraduate pharmacists about herbal preparations, which are included in the teatment guidelines of common diseases in Ukraine, which are included in the State formulary of medicines, 2023 and local formularies to ensure health care specialists and population about the safety and effectiveness of herbal preparations and the rational use of cost for effective HMP for alternative treatment.in wartime in Ukraine.
