OBJECTIVES:
This poster identifies ways and opportunities in which pharma can contribute to the value-based healthcare ecosystem by establishing value-based partnerships (VBPs) that aim to address challenges or unmet needs within the patient journey.METHODS:
A literature review was conducted to explore the stakeholder-specific benefits of VBPs, examples of recent VBPs, and their impact on healthcare systems. This poster illustrates the significant opportunities to forge VBPs for drug manufacturers across the healthcare system to create mutual value for payers, providers, patients, and themselves.RESULTS:
Pharma manufacturers are integral stakeholders within the healthcare ecosystem, playing a role beyond their contributions to product innovation. Pharma should continue to develop a holistic understanding of key challenges within therapy areas of interest, examining the care pathway from the perspective of other key stakeholders, such as healthcare providers and patients as well as looking at support before and after treatment - beyond traditional hospital care management.CONCLUSIONS:
Overall, for value to be realized from dedicated partnerships, healthcare stakeholders must embrace a new definition of value across the ecosystem, and act accordingly. Healthcare bodies need to recognize that not all VBPs will produce immediate cost-savings but will give rise to long-term efficiencies with regard to resource optimization. Pharma can catalyze such value discovery by engaging with different parts of the healthcare system, with a keen focus on the collaborative effort required to capture overall societal value. Together, all stakeholders within the healthcare ecosystem will stand to gain benefits from reimagined value-creation opportunities. VBPs partnerships should be built on the synergistic foundations of expertise sharing, digital transformation, and reimagining healthcare delivery, but trust and teamwork along the journey are required to unlock value. For pharma companies, embracing collaborations can elevate their position as significant players within the ecosystem.Conference/Value in Health Info
