OBJECTIVES: The study aims to analyze the importance of the multidisciplinary approach as compared to the current Italian standard of care for the management of patients affected by either WM, MZL or CLL based on the involvement of several health professional figures.

METHODS: It involves the organization of 2 Advisory Boards in presence in Rome with the aim of determine the impact at organizational level of multidisciplinary team on the existing care pathways. Both approaches will be economically valorized in order to assess the possible convenience for the National Health System, both in terms of patients’ outcome and resources’ absorption, of implementing a care pathway based on the involvement of several professional figures.

RESULTS: Researchers determined the main actions to be implemented to correct the existing weakness that threatens the efficacy of therapeutic pathways and a framework of indicators to be used to measure the impact of the multidisciplinary team. The functional elements of the multidisciplinary team have been developed as at the moment there is no full and regulated definition in Italy on these 3 pathologies.

CONCLUSIONS: the working group agrees in implementing new mechanisms that favor the application of multidisciplinary teams to the context of analysis to optimize the care provided both in terms of effectiveness and appropriateness and in economic terms
