Healthcare Resources Utilization Among Sectors in Saudi Arabia

OBJECTIVES:
Objective 1: To evaluating the usability of healthcare resources by MoH, OGS, and Private sectors Objective 2: To examining the factors that prevent MoH, OGS, and private sector, and from using the health care resources to the highest possible extent.METHODS: This paper presents a cross-sectional study conducted among healthcare resources in Saudi Arabia comparing the utilization of different healthcare sectors Government Ministry of Health (MoH), Other Government Sector (OGS), and Private for a long 5 years 2017 to 2021. This comparison uses World Health Organization (WHO) standards. The data was secondary data from Saudi (MoH) open data on the official website and was. The study was focused on facilities, bed capacity, and manpower. The study was distributed anonymously to approximately 487 hospitals with capacity of 72,981 beds on 2017 reaching to 497 with capacity of 77,224 beds on 2021 and manpower of 423,940 on 2017 reaching to 485,688 on 2021 with different specialties of health practitioner.
RESULTS: A total of 487 hospitals distributed into 282 MoH, 47 OGS, and 158 Private in 2017 and was increased to 497 hospitals distributed into 287 MoH, 51 OGS, and 159 Private in 2021. The overall increasing was 10%, the most increasing was in OGS with 9%, whereas the increasing of bed capacity from 72,981 on 2017 distributed into 43,080 MoH, 12,279 OGS, and 17,622 Private also increased by 6% reaching to 485,688 divided into 287 MoH, 51 OGS, and 159 Private.
CONCLUSIONS: The findings demonstrate that MoH had the most healthcare resources with less utilization which give the potential to find healthcare financing system to provide better efficiency, and the manpower number is increasing as more as compared to other sectors and having maximum bed capacity for different areas such as ICU, Isolation etc.
