ABSTRACT WITHDRAWN
OBJECTIVES: Determine how the COVID-19 affected the quality of their sleep by comparing hypertensive patients with healthy individuals.
METHODS: The study was conducted by completing an anonymous Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire on a voluntary basis. Its score is a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 21, and a total PSQI score of ≥5 indicates "bad sleep quality". The study involved 30 patients with hypertension and 30 healthy respondents. The age range of participants in the study ranged from 28 to 75 years. Of these, 81.7% (n = 49) were women, and the remaining 18.3% (n = 11) were men.
RESULTS: The mean score of patients with hypertension was 6, and the mean score of healthy respondents was 5. In the group of patients with hypertension, 80% (n=24) had bad sleep quality, and the remaining 20% (n=6) had PSQI <5. In the next group, sleep quality in 19 healthy respondents had PSQI ≥5, indicating bad sleep quality. Comparison of two groups in terms of a quantitative indicator, the distribution of which differed from the norm, was carried out using the Mann-Whitney U-test. An analysis of the quality of sleep on the dependence of the respondents was carried out. When analyzing the indicator "Quality of sleep" depending on the respondents, it was not possible to identify statistically significant differences (p = 0.515).
CONCLUSIONS: Based on the results, we did not notice much difference between the two groups, we can see that both groups experienced a negative impact on their sleep quality during the pandemic.
