OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the educational goals achieved using a team-based learning technique(TBL).

METHODS: Students of the 3rd year of the specialty “General Medicine” on the discipline “Fundamentals of Evidence-Based Medicine” of Astana Medical University have introduced the TBL. At the end of the lesson, students were asked to fill out a feedback form.

RESULTS: A total of 428 questionnaires were analyzed in the year. 316students (73.8%) like to conduct classes according to the method, 69 (16.1%) - did not like it, 43(10.1%) did not decide. All of the students surveyed had no prior knowledge of TBL and never participated in such events. After the lesson, 372 (86.9%) respondents stated that they had a clear idea of the procedure. Students were also asked what stage of classes they liked the most. The group testing stage aroused the greatest interest (86%), appeal - by 1.9%, individual testing - 9.3%, at all stages - 2.8% of respondents. The greatest difficulty was caused by individual testing (68.2%) and group testing (18%). According to the vast majority of students(79.7%), the TBL method is useful for better mastering the subject. In their comments, students expressed a desire to continue studying technology, apply TBL to other disciplines. According to the student, this technique allows you to better absorb content, feel responsible for making decisions, “group work is more effective-if you don’t know something, then your teammate can help”,“at the same time, a group discussion and training is held”,“Material is better remembered and absorbed” etc.

CONCLUSIONS: The educational process should stimulate the activity of students and help ensure that this activity is focused and aimed at achieving a positive result
